Danny Imray's move to West Brom: State of play, what we know, when deal could be done
Danny Imray was vital for West Bromwich Albion when they avoided relegation from the Championship last season.
Arriving on loan from Crystal Palace in January, the versatile full-back initially endured a difficult start to life in the Black Country.
However, this was the same for Albion in general, who were dragged into relegation trouble during Eric Ramsay's dismal stint at the helm.
Enter James Morrison, who guided the Baggies through a 10-match unbeaten run heading into the final day - securing safety at a relative canter despite a two-point deduction imposed by the EFL.
Imray would perform at an extremely high level during this run, fitting into Morrison's 4-4-2 seamlessly.
Now, with the Black Country club pursuing a permanent deal, West Brom News takes a look at what there is to know about the fullback's situation.
When does Danny Imray's contract expire?
During his spell at The Hawthorns, it was believed that his contract with Palace was set to expire this summer.
However, reports from the Express & Star at the back end of the term suggest that this is false.
Instead, Imray will contractually remain a Crystal Palace player until July 2027, unless the Baggies have anything to say about that.
New signing Jimmy-Jay Morgan recently revealed the impact Imray had on his decision to make the move, indicating that he does hold West Brom in high regard - providing some hope that a deal can be struck.
What is the transfer latest with Danny Imray?
Given the continued excellence of Daniel Munoz on the right for Crystal Palace, it is unlikely that Imray will be handed an instant chance at Selhurst Park, even with his impressive body of work at West Brom.
This is where he is left with a big decision to make, with 12 months left on his deal, without the guarantee of football.
Back in May, it was reported by Telegraph journalist John Percy that West Brom were looking to purchase Imray on a permanent deal, with this now potentially in the works following the appointment of Pierre Sage.
On Transfermarkt, Imray is valued at £680,000, a figure that could be surprisingly likely given his relative lack of experience at a good level, and the fact that there is just a year left on his deal.
For Palace, they may be unwilling to let him go for such a price given his age, and the fact that he could go on to be worth much more than this in the future.
Popular Baggies news source EyaWeGew outlined last month that the club remain in the race, with competition from elsewhere.
With this in mind, the Eagles could look to extend his deal and loan him back to the Baggies - potentially with a much higher purchase option that could be granted as a result of a longer deal.
After an excellent end to the season, West Brom are hopeful of a more prosperous campaign.
Morrison has cultivated a fantastic atmosphere around the club at the moment, and this could well entice Imray ahead of the season, even if it is only on a temporary basis.
