West Bromwich Albion return to competitive action this weekend as pre-season preparations round up.

The Baggies make the trip to South Yorkshire to face Rotherham United in the first round of the EFL Cup on Saturday.

A week later, it's a lengthier trip to face off with Norwich City in their opening clash of the 2026/27 Championship campaign.

But, the transfer window will remain open until 1 September, and there is still work to be done at The Hawthorns.

Jimmy-Jay Morgan, Barney Stewart, Matt Ingram, Nolan Galves, and Conor Townsend have all arrived with Felix Horn Myhre reportedly set to imminently arrive too.

Here, though, are three questions Albion supporters may still have for the remainder of the transfer window.

Will West Brom sign at least one more forward?

West Brom News covered how West Brom have the smallest squad in the Championship as things stand.

One area of concern is the final third, which is looking especially short of numbers even accounting for the arrival of young forward Morgan and Stewart.

The flanks are looking especially slim on options, with Mikey Johnston looking the only out-and-out winger on the books.

So, there is definitely a question from fans over whether the Baggies will make additions to the forward in the coming weeks.

Is Alex Palmer coming back to West Brom?

One rumour that has never quite gone away this summer is that the Baggies want to bring Alex Palmer back to the club.

The popular goalkeeper departed for Ipswich Town in February 2025, but is facing intense competition to don the gloves at Portman Road.

Kjell Scherpen, Kayne van Oevelen, and Simon Walton are all vying for the number one spot, and there are rumblings Palmer could depart.

West Brom have Max O'Leary and Ingram on the books now, so whether a move for Palmer is viable remains to be seen, but Baggies fans would love to see him back.

What will happen with Harry Whitwell and Alex Mowatt?

One area where West Brom do seemingly have some options is in the centre of the park.

And with Mhyre apparently on his way to The Hawthorns, Morrison's side could be even stronger there.

It begs the question of whether Harry Whitwell, who has performed well in pre-season, could be shipped out for another loan to ensure his progress is not stunted.

Moreover, could it mean an exit is on the cards for Alex Mowatt, given he looks to be even further down the pecking order now.
