West Bromwich Albion fans won't be quick to forget Charlie Taylor's woes at The Hawthorns last season.

The Baggies signed the 32-year-old on loan from Southampton last season in what was a disaster move for both parties.

Albion were almost relegated last season, with multiple players underperforming for a total of three different head coaches.

Taylor was one of them, from own goals to clear and obvious errors, he would have been a cause for the Black Country Club's relegation.

Southampton let the left-back go at the end of his contract this summer, as it was clear he was not needed by Tonda Eckert.

Now, Taylor is back in the Championship, and West Brom fans may be wondering how.

Derby County sign Charlie Taylor amid West Brom woes

It has been a busy start to the summer for Albion, signing two strikers and other players to bolster James Morrison's squad, with several players being cleared from the club.

West Brom News has gathered information that Morrison could yet land another striker, with Southampton's Cameron Archer reportedly a target for the Baggies.

Taylor was one of several players to leave The Hawthorns this summer, as Josh Maja and Karlan Grant could yet follow.

The experienced defender had a horrid average FotMob rating of 6.50 for the Baggies last season, due to consistently poor performances.

Now, West Brom fans will fire a clear warning to Derby County supporters after the Rams confirmed the signing of Taylor on Tuesday.

What's even more interesting is that John Eustace's side finished 12 spots above Albion last season in eighth place, narrowly missing out on the play-offs on the final day of the season.

If anything, Taylor has only fallen upwards - somehow.

However, the Baggies will be fully aware of how to take advantage of his weaknesses next season.

West Brom surely have the green light to agree Cameron Archer transfer - here's why

When do West Brom face Taylor again?

West Brom will be looking to build on the momentum that Morrison's side had to close out the previous campaign after avoiding relegation, despite a late and scary points deduction.

The Baggies were one of the best sides form-wise to end the 2025-26 campaign, and proved to be a team that nobody wanted to play.

Every margin matters in the Championship, Baggies fans know that, as they'll hope for Taylor to do them a favour whenever Albion face Derby next season.

The Rams are currently scheduled to host Morrison's men at Pride Park on Wednesday, 9 September, before the return fixture takes place on another Wednesday night kick-off, on 7 April.

Let's hope for West Brom's sake that Taylor plays in both of these matches.
