West Bromwich Albion are in the market for a new striker after links to free agent Bamba Dieng came about.

The Baggies are waiting on decisions from Josh Maja and Karlan Grant, both of whom could influence further signings that the club makes.

Albion have already let Daryl Dike go, as the Black Country Club wanted to free up the wage bill this summer, also parting ways with Jed Wallace.

James Morrison is believed to want a new striker regardless of what happens with ongoing contract talks, and Dieng was one player linked with a move to The Hawthorns.

The 26-year-old is officially a free agent after leaving Lorient on the back of a career-best season, scoring 10 goals in Ligue 1.

Now, West Brom have learned of Dieng's next transfer move.

Bamba Dieng set for meeting ahead of transfer

Express and Star initially reported that West Brom were in the hunt for Dieng, alongside Championship rivals QPR.

Other Championship clubs have since been linked to the Senegal international, who has admirers across Europe.

Dieng was with Senegal at this summer's World Cup, and managed to grab seven minutes off the bench in a 3-1 defeat to France.

However, after his country were knocked out, the number nine looks ready to focus on his next move amid links to The Hawthorns.

According to Marca journalist Matteo Moretto on X, Dieng is closing in on a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Shabab.

A meeting will take place on Tuesday in an attempt to finalise all terms of a contract.

However, Morrison still wants a striker, and there's plenty of reasons why West Brom won't stress about seemingly missing out on the former Marseille talent.

What is the new Championship transfer trend and how have West Brom already embraced it?

The striker West Brom could be waiting for

West Brom have already signed Barney Stewart and Jimmy-Jay Morgan, but it's expected that the Baggies will try to bring another centre-forward.

Morrison looks likely to play two up front again, and with uncertainty around Maja and Aune Heggebo yet to fully convince, extra depth is required.

Cameron Archer in West Brom's thinking despite recent transfer activity, who looks destined to leave St. Mary's Stadium this summer.

The former Sheffield United forward could be one of the most clinical number nines that The Hawthorns has seen in years, if he joins, and would likely be a more trusted addition than Dieng.
