West Brom new striker signing expected as millions splashed in early-window spree
West Bromwich Albion are reportedly planning on signing another striker before the end of the summer transfer window.
Albion aren't wasting any time when it comes to adding fresh talent to James Morrison's squad this summer.
The transfer window has only just officially opened, and the Baggies have already bagged three new recruits.
West Brom signed nine players in last season's summer window, and already seem on pace to match or potentially even exceed that this time around.
Forwards Barney Stewart and Jimmy-Jay Morgan have arrived from Falkirk and Chelsea respectively, meanwhile defender Carter Pinnington has signed from Liverpool.
But, despite the fact that two new additions have already bolstered Morrison's attacking ranks, The Hawthorns may yet be the new home for another striker before the market shuts.
West Brom want another striker for James Morrison's front two
Daryl Dike is leaving West Brom this summer, and he may not be the only striker heading out of B71.
West Brom are still waiting on decisions from Josh Maja and Karlan Grant respectively, with offers understood to be on the table for both of them.
But, with both of their respective contracts set to expire at the end of this month, Albion chiefs have clearly not been prepared to wait around to hear back from them.
Morgan has reportedly joined from Chelsea in a package deal worth up to a reported £4million. However, it's understood a lot of that is made up of bonuses and incentives, with the initial fee being smaller.
Add that to the undisclosed fee they've splashed out on for Stewart, and Albion have already parted with millions combined to secure both of their two signatures.
Even with those aforementioned signings through the door, a fresh report from West Brom news source EyaWeGew via X has claimed that they likely won't be the only forwards joining before the window closes.
It is reported that they're "expecting" to see West Brom sign another striker before the 11pm deadline on 1 September.
Morrison's preference for deploying two strikers in attack is cited as being a significant factor behind this, with the 40-year-old being backed by the Albion hierarchy.
What type of striker should West Brom sign next?
Given the fact that West Brom only scored 48 goals in 2025-26, seeing this big push to bolster the forward line will undoubtedly excite many supporters.
However, it's important that they get the makeup of the attack right, and that should see the Baggies look to sign a particular type of centre-forward next.
With Morgan, Stewart and Aune Heggebo, Morrison has a young foundation to take into the future, this forward line does feel like it's missing the presence of a veteran striker.
Indeed, the aforementioned Grant is Albion's current oldest forward at 28, and so perhaps acquiring a proven and experienced player to place around this youthful group could work wonders.
