West Bromwich Albion have already added youth to their squad with Barney Stewart and Jimmy-Jay Morgan.

James Morrison is set to take the reins of a new era at the Baggies after the bitter disappointment of the 2025-26 campaign.

Ryan Mason and Eric Ramsay almost led the Albion to relegation, but the former Scotland international brought stability back.

With veterans like Jed Wallace leaving, Josh Maja and Karlan Grant also possibly not extending their contracts, West Brom's next signing has become evidently clear.

Last summer, Aune Heggebo, George Campbell and Alfie Gilchrist were the young, up-and-coming additions to the Black Country outfit's squad.

The West Midlands club also added young blood with loan moves for the likes of Toby Collyer, Samuel Iling-Junior, Danny Imray and Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba, and last year's recruitment strategy could be repeated.

James Morrison has one clear transfer priority at West Brom

Ben Brereton Diaz is being linked to West Brom this summer, and their pursuit of targets may follow the same pattern as last year.

After adding Stewart and Morgan to their ranks, the Baggies could potentially be prioritising bringing more nous to the squad.

Nat Phillips and Chris Mepham were brought in to rebuild the defence, and after Maja, Grant and Wallace's departures, players with experience are seemingly being targeted to bolster the attack.

The arrival of stars who have been in the thick of promotion races should follow the two young strikers through the doors at The Hawthorns next.

West Brom have no-brainer transfer repeat this summer

West Brom fans will want to forget most of what happened during the 2025-26 campaign as their hopes of promotion were replaced by fear of relegation.

There wasn't much Bilkul Football got right in the last year, apart from their decision to back Morrison and subsequently appoint him permanently.

Most of the signings were also underwhelming, but Imray instantly became a fan-favourite after some electric displays following his arrival on loan in the winter transfer window.

If there's one deal the Baggies can be confident will work out again, it's the 22-year-old Crystal Palace right-back, but it remains to be seen whether he will return to B71 again.
