Why West Brom could soon have stronger motive to move for George Hemmings in January

West Bromwich Albion may return for a move for Aston Villa's George Hemmings in January.

James Morrison had his eyes on other wingers heading into deadline day, but the Baggies didn't end up getting a move over the line for anyone.

Albion already had the likes of Jayson Molumby, Isaac Price and Kareem Tunde at their disposal, as Harry Whitwell's emergence has also eased concerns

However, with no certainty that Tammer Bany or Mikey Johnston will get up to speed this season, the Black Country Club may have to use the winter window to their advantage.

The club have a good working transfer relationship with Villa, and have agreed terms for several deals in recent years.

Hemmings cropped up on West Brom's transfer radar early into the summer window, but the Baggies now have more reasons than one to make a move in the winter.

Why West Brom have green light to move for George Hemmings in January

West Brom were linked with Hemmings towards the end of July, but Villa were never going to be open to a permanent sale.

The Baggies most likely would not have been able to afford the value of the England U19s star anyway, so a loan move was more sensible.

The left-winger was involved heavily towards the business end of Villa's pre-season, and has received high praise from head coach Unai Emery.

Hemmings has so far started four out of five games for Villa, so it probably leaves Baggies fans wondering how it would be possible to lure him to The Hawthorns.

However, the teenager has yet to leave an impact in the Premier League, and has only been selected due to injuries and other fitness issues.

Villa's luxury summer signings Johan Manzambi, Alejandro Garnacho and Ibrahim Mbaye are now all getting up to speed for Emery, which leaves Hemmings' game time in major doubt.

However, West Brom could soon capitalise on the youngster who has had important Premier League experience, as he would be a solid signing for competition in January.

If his playing time fizzles out at Villa Park, he could be available to leave on loan again.

Hemmings vs Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba: Who is better?

One example of West Brom's transfer relationship with Villa is Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba.

The winger left The Hawthorns for Villa Park in 2023, but re-joined the Baggies on loan last January.

West Brom were linked with yet another move for Jimoh-Aloba in the summer, with the forward already having worked under Morrison.

However, Albion most likely opted against going back in again for their former youth prospect after his loan move last term didn't go to plan.

That said, Hemmings looks to have more potential out of the two, and it would no doubt be a huge coup if West Brom managed to sign him on loan in the winter window.
