Uros Racic ruled out of West Brom clash v Stoke due to international red tape
Uros Racic’s West Brom debut will be delayed after his work permit wasn’t finalised in time to face Stoke on 24 August, Carlos Corberan has confirmed.
Speaking to the Express and Star in his pre-match press conference (23 August), Corberan said that there are still details to be finalised with Racic’s work permit after his loan move from Sassuolo.
Corberan did state that the work permit and visa will both be finalised on Friday morning (23 August), meaning Racic will miss their clash with Stoke but can partake in individual training over the weekend.
He said: “Unfortunately he still needs to finalise his work permit and the visa, so during this morning he will finalise.
“Normally the process takes 24 hours, this is just how long the work permit takes, so he still cannot train with the group.
“The idea for us is to finalise this and to for him to train tomorrow (Saturday). He can train individually, hopefully Sunday too, and then he will be ready for next week.”
Uros Racic made to wait for highly-anticipated West Brom debut
While the Baggies’ travelling fans would have loved to see Racic make his debut for Corberan’s side at Stoke this weekend, the potential of walking out at a packed Hawthorns against Swansea is even better.
For a player who just four years ago was linked with a £28million switch to Manchester United, it would represent the chance to stake a claim in English football after that initial chance passed him by.

The former Valencia man will be seen by Corberan and The Hawthorns faithful as a like-for-like Okay Yokuslu replacement, following the 30-year-old’s £1.35m departure to Trabzonspor in his native Turkey.
Minus their brand new Sassuolo loanee at the base of midfield, Jayson Molumby and Alex Mowatt will be expected to start in Corberan’s double-pivot at the Bet365 Stadium instead.
Regardless of this Saturday’s result, anticipation will remain high for the Serbian international to make his Albion debut, with Corberan confident that he’ll be able to slot straight into the side next week.
In other West Brom news, a player who shone at Albion last season could be making a return with one of their Championship rivals.
