West Brom: Tony Brown and Sky Sports pundit wowed by what ‘fantastic’ Tom Fellows did v Cardiff

West Brom legend Tony Brown was left drooling over young winger Tom Fellows after his role in the opening goal against Cardiff.

The Baggies took the lead after just 28 seconds through Mikey Johnston’s first goal for the club since joining on loan from Celtic in January.

And reacting to the goal while on Sky Sports News (13 February, 20:04), pundit Courtney Sweetman-Kirk labelled the youngster “fantastic’ too for his assist.

“It’s all about Fellows down the right hand side here, fantastic the academy product,” she said.

“He just puts a fantastic ball into an area, stands the defender up initially and sees Johnston arriving into an area at the right time.”

Brown also praised the young winger for his role in the goal while on BBC Radio WM (13 February, 20:03).

“Super start, absolutely brilliant,” he said. “Brilliant play from Tom Fellows though. You’ve got to give him all the credit. Took his full-back on, skinned him, did his little lollipop trick and then he’s got to the byline.”

West Brom have a superstar on their hands

It’s not often that a young player can break into the first-team at his club and have an immediate impact for a period of time, but Fellows is doing exactly that.

After receiving not enough minutes in the first-half of the season, Carlos Corberan has trusted him greatly since the turn of the year and he is being rewarded for it.

It’s no surprise with these performances that the player was reportedly attracting attention from clubs such as Everton, and it makes it even sweeter that the player has already put pen to paper on a new contract to commit his future to West Brom.

His directness, his pace, his trickery and his end product are all improving with every appearance and if he can continue to develop at this rate then The Hawthorns will be hope to a real superstar soon.

The best way of keeping talent like him at the club for the long-term is to ensure that they can get Premier League football under their belt and Corberan knows it.
